Residents of New York banned smoking in parks and on beaches

The authorities of the American city of New York planned new restrictions on smoking in public places, reports AFP. Advisor to the Mayor of New York Health Care, Thomas Farley (Thomas Farley) stated that the new ban will affect smoking in recreation places such as city parks and beaches.
In 1995 smoking was prohibited in most New York restaurants and bars. Since 2003, New Yorkers can not smoke in the subway stations, in offices and other public areas. Steps undertaken by the city authorities have reduced the number of smokers in a population three times in seven years.
According to the Ministry of Health, smoking about 7 percent of adult New Yorkers, while in 2002 this figure was 21,5 percent. From diseases associated with smoking, in New York annually kills seven and a half thousand people.
